A great week of sun and fun in Class Asia. The final week before east has been full of colour, creativity and being outdoors. The children created their own Easter egg designs and three were chosen as first, second and third. On Thursday afternoon we were exploring a local area habitat in science. In DT we completed our project of designing and making a mindfulness timer by making the final casing.  We used a net and added our own designs. It has been a super Spring 2 term. We wish all the children a lovely Easter break.

It has been STEMmaville enrichment week at Emmville, and the children have had a great time being exposed to STEM activities and opportunities.  Class Asia have been challenged to work in teams to create the tallest spaghetti tower that can stand on it own, and to protect an egg from breaking after it has been dropped from height. The children were very creative with their ideas, they applied their STEM skills, and developed their teamworking skills. The children worked on their coding skills to programme the character Mario through his world.  They also got to experience a planetarium from Kielder observatory and took part in an interactive assembly about ‘The Story of the Earth’. It has been a super week and the continue continue to develop and improve, every day.

It has been a busy old week for Class Asia and we’ve had a great time. This week we had the pleasure of taking part in prayer space and watching the Year 6 dancers perform their dance festival routine; they were amazing in school, and put on an even better show at the Glass House International Centre for Music. On Friday, the class also had the opportunity to take part in an enterprise workshop where they were running a clown mobile company and took on the roles of General Manager, Buyer, Sales Executive, Accountant and Quality Control. They had to work as a team to follow the instructions, buy the resources, make the product, check its quality, sell the product and manage the finances. The children were super and learnt a lot of skills in the process through doing a real-world work experience. Well done Class Asia.

14.03.25

Class Asia have been super again this week. They have been developing skills in English linked to a suspense story, in maths the children continued exploring fractions, in DT they developed a criteria for their mindful timer, in French the class explored how to express their feelings, in computing they developed a plan for their comic strip, in geography we explored the human impact of earthquakes, in science, we classified living things by choosing criteria, and in PSHE we discussed smoking, reasons why people might do it, and its impacts. The only photos we have though are from PE. Weather impacted our hockey lessons last term so we have caught up with the final two, one of which being a tournament. An important part of sports is competition and we aim to have a competitive event at the end of each area of PE we work on. The class had a great tournament. They showed the skills they had learnt and applied them to the competitive arena. The teamwork, attitude and sportsmanship were super. It was a great end to the hockey block.

07.03.25

Class Asia have had a packed week. After developing their hockey skills in PE, some of our class took part in a GSSP tournament competing against other schools. All of our players represented the school impeccably and they came away with awards for first, second and third places.

Thursday was also World Book Day, and the class had a great time celebrating book. As part of this, Asia Class went into Reception and read with the younger children. It was lovely to see them sharing the joy of reading and showing such care with the little ones.

We finished the week with an ending to our gymnastics block in PE. The children created a performance combining all the skills (balances, rotation jumps, rolls and inverted movements) they have learned over the six sessions. We were very impressed with how their skills have developed.

It’s been a lovely week and a pleasure being part of the class. Well done Asia.

21.02.25

The children of class Asia have had a great week to end Spring Term 1. Two areas they have developed is their computing and poetry performance. In computing, the children have learnt how to progamme using variables to create a quiz. In English, we had a focus on oracy and performance poetry. The children chose their favourite poem about food and practiced performing it. They tried to include a range of performance devices that had been discussed. All the children were super performing them. One child will be chosen from the class as a winner, and from each class winner, a first, second and third will be chosen for the whole school.

Class Asia, have a super half-term break. You have worked super hard and been a delight. Enjoy your break.

This week has been a busy week preparing and practicing for our Year Four assembly. The children have been brilliant learning their lines, practicing their performance, taking on feedback and improving, learning their stage movements, and building confidence. The final result was a wonderful assembly where both classes entertained and had fun. We are very proud of Class Asia and Africa. Well done children, and thank you families for your support.

07.02.25

Year Four have had another great week. We have been working on explanation texts in English, Volcanoes in geography, coordinate in maths, condensation in science and Judaism in RE, amongst other things. What has stood out though has been our start to gymnastics in PE. The children have been supper learners for individual and partner balances and creating a final routine. As always, the children have worked their socks off and treated each other with respect. They have also all achieved their recognition board goal linked to partner work.

31.01.25

This week the children have been doing a range of writing across the curriculum and have produced some lovely pieces. In response to the text ‘The Tear Thief’, they wrote backstories for the Tear Thief based on their own ‘wonderings’ about her life. They also, wrote an application letter for the job of Tear Thief based on what they inferred the role would require. And in history, after exploring different points of view about Queen Mary I’s reign, the class wrote excellent discussion texts about whether she deserved the name ‘Bloody Mary’. I was so impressed with their knowledge and creativity, and their ability to apply the skills they had learnt in English to their writing. Well done Class Asia; they are always trying their best, and this week they all were recognized on our recognition board for their independence.

17.01.25

Class Asia have had a great week of learning. One area has been art where we have been learning about tints and shades and how they can be used to help create a 3D effect. The children created super 3D paintings using the tint and shade technique. We joined the Gateshead Music Workshop where we took part in history of music from the modern era, and some of the children got to perform at the front. In addition, we have continued developing our trumpet skills. Well done Class Asia.
