What a super week it has been in Class Asia. It has been our ‘The Big Green Enrichment Week’ and we’ve has lots of great learning through that. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle; we swapped our old books so that they could be someone else’s new books. It was a lovely experience. Likewise, we reused plastic bottles to make bird feeders. We also, created leaf monoprints and the results were fantastic. As well as ‘The Big Green Enrichment Week’ we also had our final session of tennis with a house competition. It was brilliant final session. Everyone has improved so much and played completely but fairly, knowing and applying the rules accurately. What a great week.

Well, a week of busy learners indeed!
Firstly, in DT, the children are designing and making an ancient Egyptian themed collar from fabric. As part of this they learnt how do a running stitch and a cross stitch to attach an applique. I think they did fab and improved throughout the lesson.
The children also had the opportunity to take part in prayer space and explore spirituality in active and engaging way.

Year 4 Asia have been fab again this week. The weather has been very hot but the children have still worked very hard and put their best efforts in. In science, the children were great at showing their knowledge of biodiversity seasonal changes in the form of bar charts, in DT they have started to design their own Egyptian collars, in geography the class have been raising awareness of what everyone can do to reduce global warming and making their own pledges of what they will do. In computing we have been applying what we have learnt about computational thinking to remix a scratch algorithm and in PE we have developed our serve in tennis and how to strike the ball in cricket. For maths, the class have improved their knowledge and understanding of telling the time, whilst for English they have been writing great portal stories. They have worked super hard and had a great time doing it.

The highlight of this week was the Emmaville Sports Day. It was a super day for all children and Class Asia were brilliant. They had a great morning taking part, competing and trying their best in every activity they did. The attitude, effort, skills and sportsmanship were fab!
In science, we have also been exploring how to car for our teeth. As part of this were experimented with how different fluid would affect teeth, using egg shells as teeth. After a week of waiting, we got to see our final results.

Firstly, a big well done to all of Class Asia who this week took their Multiplication Tables Check. They have all worked very hard this year, in school and at home, learning their tables and gaining confidence. We are very proud of all their effort. Well done class!
This week has also been great for sport. We had twenty children from Year Four attend the GSSP Quadkids Competition, where each child took part in the 50m sprint, 400m run, vortex howler throw and standing long jump, and their individuals scores contributed to a team overall score. Every child was brilliant, giving their all, supporting one another and representing the school well. In addition, our A team came first and will now represent Emmaville at the County Finals. Well done Quadkids.
Finally, Class Asia started their PE lessons in tennis, where they have an external coach for the next six weeks. It was a great start in which they learnt to track the ball with both eyes and bat, as well as positioning. We’re looking forward to making great progress in tennis.

The last two weeks, the children have had a lot of great learning experiences.
Firstly, last Friday was the Emmaville Rainbow Fun Run, where the whole school celebrated movement, the outdoors and the joys and colours of life.
This week, Class Asia have developed their photography skills in art. They had previously learnt about four techniques for photography, the first being the importance of light and dark, which the children experimented with this week.
This term, the class have been doing rugby in PE, and working on the skills associated with this. Some of the children have also had the opportunity of the afterschool club rugby sessions from an All Stars coaching, which have been fab.
A great week to end the term. We look forward to Summer 2, the final term of the year.

So much going on in Class Asia this week; nearly too much to remember.
We started the week learning about digestion and the digestive system in science. As part of this we explored what nutrients the body takes from different food through digestion by looking at food labels.
On Tuesday we took part in a Dance-A-Thon Day where we learnt a dance routine based on a song from a movie. Our song was from Minions and we had a great time learning it, adding to it and performing it.
We also had the opportunity of a Gateshead music workshop exposing us to music through the decades.
Our learning is very varied at Emmaville with lots of opportunities inside and out the classroom from our own teachers and other external expert coaches.

It’s been a busy week again for Year 4 Asia.
Firstly, Year Four have been learning about Roman Britain this year. To reinforce their learning, and experience Roman Britain first hand, we visited the Vindolanda fort and museum. The children had a great day exploring the fort, role playing, questioning archeologists excavating the site, looking at and discussing artefacts in the museum, and gaining a deeper understanding of Roman Britain.
On Thursday, the children had an informative day celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day. They came in wearing British coloured clothing, took part in a VE Day assembly and activities celebrating the anniversary.
Also, a group of Year 4 children attended a GSSP tennis tournament. The children were super. They played some great tennis and represented Emmaville superbly with their attitude and enthusiasm.
