Week Ending Friday 15th July 2022
Nursery, you blew us all away this week with your fabulous ‘can do attitude’ and fantastic behaviour during our sports day. We know you all had an amazing day and loved all of the stickers that you received.
Week Ending Friday 1st July 2022
This week, the older children continued their transition process into Reception.
The children met the Reception teachers; Mrs. Johnston and Mrs. Jarvis. They came into the nursery for a visit and they hosted snack and story time with small groups.
Later in the week, the children also spent the morning in the Reception classrooms for 'Step up Morning'. The children loved exploring all of the different areas in the inside and the outside clasrooms!
The countdown to being 'official' Reception children has begun!
Week Ending Friday 24th June 2022
This week we went on a bear hunt in nursery!
One of our favourite stories was brought to life with drama, re-telling, songs, movement, and art activities.
Week Ending 17th June 2022
Well… today has been amazing!!! All of our boys and girls did a super job on their Rainbow Run.
We all came in bright colours and tried our hardest as we ran a full lap around the whole school.
Afterward, we even got a special treat… ice lollies!
We then stayed to help cheer on and watch the Reception children do their race. We cheered for every class we saw and the big boys and girls were so grateful, it really helped them keep going. Well done to all of you, we have had a wonderful day.
Week Ending 10th June 2022
The children are always so excited when it is their birthday, so we have followed their interests with a week all about birthdays!
We have used books and the children's own experiences of birthdays to engage and encourage talk about what you might see and do at birthday times.
The children have loved the birthday-themed home corner, making cakes, painting birthday cards, and playing party games.
Week Ending Friday 27th May 2022
We have had an absolutely fabulous day celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
We have had a visit from the characters from Frozen, fun on the bouncy castles, a lovely picnic in the sun, and all finished off with a wonderful ice cream! Thank you to all of the children for being so brilliant today - we all have had so much fun!
Week Ending Friday 20th May 2022
This week, we have used the book 'Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What do you hear?'
This book introduced the children to some less familiar animals and lots of new vocabulary.
Even in nursery, we use Talk For Writing techniques to ensure that the children are able to retell stories by heart. We used actions, some Makaton, and some British Sign Language as we told the story. We also re-told the story using drama and puppets.
We moved on to drawing a map, which the children used as we re-told the story to each other. Some children even had a go at drawing their own story maps.
What a fabulous week of storytelling - see if your child can remember any of the story!
Week Ending 13th May 2022
Purple Poppies
Our fabulous two-year-old cohort, the Purple Poppies are enjoying group times; where they focus on social, and communication and language skills.
This week, lots of the activities were all about colours - colour matching by feeding the sharks, sorting out coloured and patterned socks, painting fish, as well as lots of stories, singing, and nursery rhymes.
Week Ending 6th May 2022
Well, we just all had the absolute best time at Hall Hill Farm this week!
We saw such a range of animals and birds from Highland cows to gorgeous peacocks.
The children were fortunate enough to be able to feed the goats, lambs, ponies, and alpacas.
They also held the chicks, rabbits, and guinea pigs.
The children already had a wealth of farm knowledge, but they learned even more about how to look after the animals, what they ate, their life cycles, and where they lived.
They also enjoyed a very bumpy tractor ride, fun playing in the park, eating our packed lunches and of course, singing songs on the coach journey there and back!
Week Ending Friday 29th April 2022
Welcome back everybody to the summer term, we hope you have had a lovely Easter break?
The children have been getting 'farm ready' this week, in anticipation of our visit to Hall Hill Farm next week.
We have used fiction and non-fiction books, songs, rhymes, movement games, and art activities to learn about the farm and the animals that we might see. We are now farm experts and the children are all so excited about the trip!
We have also been carrying on with our weekly Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle and Dough Disco activities - all to work on our fine and gross motor movements, ready for writing.
