Mrs Priestley enlisted the help of Gateshead Schools Sports Partnership to organise the Emmaville Sports Day. After a great deal of planning, the representatives from GSSP arrived at 6.30am on the morning of the 3rd July to set up for the day ahead. What an amazing job they did! The organisation was perfect, both the morning and afternoon sessions ran ever so smoothly, with the children enjoying a range of activities. Thankfully after all of the careful preparation we were blessed with sunshine, allowing us all to share a fantastic sporting occasion. Of course the day would not have been complete without the opening ceremony performed by a group of Year 2 children.
The day was also made special as Ryan R was able to join us in the morning. I am sure most of you are now aware that Ryan was diagnosed with Leukaemia in May. Ryan is currently undergoing treatment that is likely to last up to 3 years. When Ryan is well enough he will be able to attend school between treatment sessions.
The local community are organising a fundraising event in August for Ryan and his family. As school will be closed in August, we have decided to organise a non-uniform day for Ryan on the last day of term. Ryan’s favourite colour is orange, so we would like the children to wear something orange on Friday 20th July. All donations will be given to the organisers of the Crawcrook Community event.
