What a day we have had completing our Rainbow Run!
The children all looked amazing in their bright colours- thank you so much for making such a big effort! The children were absolutely amazing during the run and showed true sportsmanship throughout. We even got a treat at the end... ice lollies.
It has been a fantastic day. Well done Newcastle class
Week Ending Friday 10th June 2022
This week I would like to celebrate the fabulous maths work that Newcastle class has done.
We have learned all about odd and even numbers. The children have used ten frames, Numicon, and practical games, such as putting passengers on buses to help develop their understanding. They have also drawn some amazing, crazy 'odd' creatures, monsters, and aliens; all of which had to have odd numbers of arms, legs, eyes, and heads!!
Week Ending 27th May 2022
All of this week, the children have enjoyed daily challenges themed around the forthcoming Queens Jubilee. They have learned about The Queen, Buckingham Palace, other famous London landmarks, The Crown Jewels, painted portraits, and made crowns, to name just a few!

Here is the recording of our song about Equality in Sport, in school.
Week Ending 13th May 2022
As part of the Blazing the Trail Project,  we have been set the challenge to write a song about Equality in Sport.

We have worked together to think about how we can help everyone at school take part in sport, when they are in school. We have talked about fair and unfair situations and what we can do so that everyone can join in.  We have written some new lyrics to the tune of London Bridge is Falling Down and will record our performance over the next few weeks.

This week some of the children asked to play the piano.  The children lined up patiently for their turn and commented on the music and performances created by their friends.  We talked about trying to use a rounded hand shape whilst playing.

Week Ending 6th May 2022
This half term our English focus is the story of ‘Supertato’. We have been learning to tell the story using a story map and actions, creating our own superhero fact files and looking at new vocabulary from the story.

This week we changed the characters in the Supertato story.  First we gathered some great ideas for a different heroes and villains.  We thought carefully about the names that we used, so that their name sounded either 'good' or 'bad'.  Next we voted for our favourite ideas to use in our class story.  We retold the story using our new characters. The post-it notes on our map helped us to remember to use the new characters!  Soon the children will be choosing or making up their own characters for their version of the story!

During our choosing time we have had a wide range of superhero/Supertato activities set out around the classroom which the children have been very eager to access.

Hall Hill Farm
Last week we enjoyed a visit to Hall Hill Farm. The children were all very well behaved and had lots of fun meeting all the farm animals. We got to hold chicks, rabbits and guinea pigs and we fed lambs, sheep and goats. We also went for a tractor ride and we even had time to play in the park. Well done everybody and a big thank you to the grown ups who helped us.  We all had a great day!
