North America Yr 6

Welcome to the North America Year 6 Class Page.  Here, you can find out about everything that we've been doing this term.

Friday 17th June 2022

There has been so much going on in North America class this week: a gaming workshop to warn our children about being safe online and to consider their behaviours; an oracy competition (more of this in future weeks); a science quiz about what makes us fit and healthy and some super work on statistics in maths.

We’ve also managed to find some time to start rehearsals for our ‘end of the show, show’.  The children are really looking forward to showing it to you all – can I suggest that you bring some tissues as the children’s performances would melt even the coldest of hearts.

After the success of last year’s Rainbow Fun Run, school decided that this event would become a regular as it certainly serves to put us all in that happy summer mood, and celebrates diversity and being proud of who we are: a message we feel is important for our children.  Consequently, school was filled with colour on Friday with children and staff dressed in the brightest of outfits and sporting some amazing face paint designs.  I was incredibly proud of our Year 6 children who marshalled the run and were really encouraging and supportive to the younger members of our school community.  I’m adding some photos below which I am confident will make you smile.

Have a lovely weekend.

We’ve had a fantastic end to what has been an incredibly busy half term.  Today was all about celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee.  We’ve had a fun-packed day which began with a session of mindfulness from Mrs Chappel from Thorp Academy and which also managed to incorporate, yoga, poetry and (of course) Queen Elizabeth!

The remainder of our Jubilee fun-filled day included a beautiful garden party, baking traybakes (Jubilee themed of course) and playing on the bouncy castle.

We also celebrated the winner of our Jubilee logo competition – well done Megan!

I’m confident that the children will sleep well tonight!

I hope you all have a wonderful half-term break.

There’s been an air of excitement all week in North America class this week: partly because some of the class are travelling to Coventry today to compete in the EFSA’s National Finals at the Coventry Building Society Arena, but also because we are in our final week of preparation for our end of key stage exams.  We’re all really looking forward to next week when we know that the children will have lots of lovely treats during SATs week.

While our footballers were away today, we had a lovely relaxing day which included a fun Spelling Bee and a competition to see which team could create the best ‘knowledge organiser’.  I think you’ll agree from the photos below that the children have packed in lots of useful information into their knowledge organisers.

Have a lovely relaxing weekend.

It’s been a busy start to the new term in North America this week, the children have had their heads down for a final push towards their end of key stage assessments. We’ve had lots of fun playing grammar games to help us to remember the terms used, and maths games to help us to keep the skills and knowledge we have acquired polished.

Well done North America.

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend.
