Emmaville Primary School

Admissions

The school provides places for children aged 2-11.  The Nursery Unit has provision in a morning and an afternoon for up to 39 children.  The school offers the extended 30-hour entitlement from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, for eligible families, as well as places for children eligible for the 2-year-old funding. There is a high level of adult support given to this age group of pupils as we feel that it is extremely important to give the children the best foundations for their future learning.  Children are eligible for a nursery place the term after their third birthday.

Emmaville is now a two-form entry school, and the admission figure for each age group is 60

Parents considering sending their children to Emmaville would normally be warmly invited to contact school to arrange a visit; however, due to current restrictions, a physical visit is not possible.  In order to give you and your child a flavour of Emmaville and what we as a school are able to offer, please watch our 'Virtual Tour' video below.

Applications for Reception places are processed through Gateshead Council online school admissions system, which you can access via the link below.  For further information on Gateshead Admissions Procedures, use the link at the bottom of this page to download the booklet.

The closing date for submitting applications is Sunday 15th January 2024.

Applications for Primary September 2024 Primary places are open now, as are applications for Secondary School places for those children currently in Year 6.  You can find more information about both (including dates of Secondary School open evenings) in the two letters here:
In addition to the Virtual Tour on this page, please also see our School Prospectus that can be downloaded below.

If any prospective parents/carers would like to have a chat with the Headteacher, Avril Armstrong, they should get in touch with the school office on 0191 4132460.

For a place within the Nursery class please contact the school to request a Nursery application pack or use the link below. All Nursery application forms should be returned to the school. A nursery aged child may be able to start in the unit the term after their third birthday but this will be dependent upon the availability of places. We encourage parents to register their child's details at the school after their second birthday, in order to avoid disappointment.

Although parents may register children at any time, places in reception class will not be allocated until April prior to starting in September. The allocation process for reception aged pupils is completed by Gateshead Authority. Where places are oversubscribed, the LA admissions procedure applies, with places being allocated according to established criteria.
