Crawcrook Nursery

Week Ending Friday 16th May 2025

Nursery had an amazing day at Hall Hill Farm this week and we were very lucky with the lovely sunny weather.
They held chicks, guinea pigs and rabbits and saw pigs, highland cows and alpacas.
They fed goats, bottle fed lambs and we even had a go at milking a cow (not a real one though!)
One of our favourite parts of the day was the tractor ride. It was very bumpy!
All the children were absolute superstars and the farm staff commented on how well they listened.

Week ending 9th May 2025
We have been learning all about 'people who help us' and have been so lucky to have Police Officers from Northumbria Police and a crew from Tyne and Wear Fire Service join us in nursery. The children have been so curious and this has supported their play - we have had lots of fire fighters, police officers and doctors looking after each other!

On VE day, we talked about how the Armed Forces keep us safe. To celebrate 80 years since Victory in Europe, the children all decorated a biscuit with a special VE day topper, they were delicious!

Our new friends in Purple Poppies have been settling so well and have been enjoying spending time with their new friends in nursery.
Week Ending Friday 2nd May 2025

What amazing and fitting weather we had this week to mark the start of the summer term!

We always spend lots of time in the outdoors in Early Years, but this week we really made the most of it!

We had lots of 'settling back in' activities to get the children used to the rules and routines of nursery again after the holidays. Our text of the week was 'Can I play?' which helped the children think about how to be a good friend. The children went on to make their own 'perfect pals' as they talked about what a perfect friend would be like.

Our two year olds enjoyed learning all about farm animals using the text 'Oh Dear!' by Rod Campbell. They even made their own milkshakes at the end of the week as they learned all about where milk comes from.
