We had a great time this week in DT learning more about series and parallel circuits. We were set with the challenge of trying to make our own switch out of cardboard, split pins and a paper clip! There was a great amount of successful switches within the class and we did an amazing job at making both series and parallel circuits of our own!

This week in Science we started our topic on electricity. We considered what electricity is and what life would be like if we didn't have it anymore! Then we were able to conduct an experiment to see if we could create our own static electricity using just a ruler and tissue paper. The children had a lot of fun, and were amazed when it worked!

Welcome back! I hope everyone had an amazing summer holidays and feel well rested and ready for a new year. It has been so lovely, seeing all the children again and finding out about all the wonderful things they got up to over the summer.

We have had a fantastic first week in Africa class. I have been so proud of the children and how they have settled into Year 4, very grown up! This week we have spent a lot of time thinking about what it means to be a team, in DT, PSHE and our PE lessons. In DT on Monday, we worked in our pairs to build a bridge for a toy car to drive across. It was very difficult, but the children did such a brilliant job at communicating and working together to problem solve.

We have also been very creative this first week back as we designed our own doorway and thought about what we were excited for stepping into the "doorway of Year 4."
