SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) Threshold Meeting 1st October 2024

Parents attended an information meeting about the Gateshead SEND Thresholds document, which was written by Gateshead SEND Team in response to meeting the SEND Code of Practice.  The purpose of the new document is to help children and young people with SEND thrive in education, prepare for adulthood and have the best experience possible in education – goals which we aspire to deliver at Emmaville.

At the meeting Avril Armstrong, Deborah Mackay and Maggie McKenna went through the document and took some time to answer questions about all things SEND.

Please find the slides used at the meeting attached below.

As always, please contact school if you would like to discuss this or any other matter regarding our SEND provision.

From September 2014, the Children and Families Act 2014 became law. A key element of the Act is the Local Offer (LO) which provides information to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities aged 0-25 and their families about services and support in the local area. Links to key documents can be found below.

Please use the link below to download the new SEND Thresholds document, which is the Local Area's response to meeting the SEND Code of Practice (2015) Graduated Approach and the DfE SEND Improvement Plan launched by the DfE on 2 March 2023.

This builds on best practice nationally and will shape the Graduated Approach at all settings 0-25.
Gateshead Council have recognised the importance of the young person and the family voice with particular respect to those children and young people with additional needs and hence there is a section in the Thresholds supporting the young people and family voice.
