Summer Music Workshop

We were all treated to another brilliant hour of music, beats and interactive fun, as the Music Workshop team came in to school to deliver the Summer session. 
 
We learnt how to play a riff (or ostinato), which is a short repeated phrase, with lots of us joining in with chime bars and 'boom-whackers' to some very recognisable songs, including Seven Nation Army.  We also found out some riffs can also be played without a tune - a simple drum beat can be the most recognisable thing about a piece of music; we clapped along to the famously recognisable intro to 'We Will Rock You'.  We then learnt about how notes can be played together to form chords, and the session finished with the five 'magic chords', a progression of chords that so many popular songs over the last few decades have used.   Maybe one or two of us will grow up to master them and become millionaires, too...
