Purple Poppies - Week Ending Friday 3rd October 2025
Well done to our wonderful Purple Poppies this week. They have been superstars!!
This week we read the story "That's not my Hedgehog," where we got to feel lots of different textures and describe them.
Later in the week, we used our senses to explore lots of different vegetables. We were able to use some of the words that we'd learned earlier in the week. Tasting was definitely the best part.
Week Ending Friday 3rd October 2025
Another brilliant week in Nursery!!
This week we have used our senses to explore lots of different vegetables. We have used brilliant vocabulary to describe each one. Tasting was our favourite part. We were super impressed with the children for trying everything. They were able to say if they did of didn't like it. The carrots were a firm favourite. The onions, not so much!
In Phonics, we were looking at "Environmental sounds." We had the best time making different sounds with our sticks.
Purple Poppies - Week Ending Friday 26th September 2025
Our two year olds have enjoyed learning a bit more about brushing their teeth - they loved having a go with the giant toothbrush!
They have also explored lots of different messy play materials, a favourite being making their own cloud dough.
Week Ending Friday 26th September 2025
This week, we have been learning our first Talk for Writing text, the story of Mr Wiggle and Mr Waggle. We started by telling the story with hand actions. We then drew a simple story map to help us remember the story for when we retell it. The children were fantastic at telling the story by the end of the week.
We also introduced Jigsaw Jennie this week. This is a soft toy that helps us during group time to talk about our feelings. We started by passing it around and giving it a gentle hug. Then, using a chime, we concentrated on our breathing, slowly breathing in through our nose and out through our mouth, imagining a rainbow coming out.
Purple Poppies - Week Ending Friday 19th September 2025
The Purple Poppies have had the best week. We have loved learning new Nursery Rhymes and dancing to them with our "Flipper Flappers."
We also loved our "Book Blanket." We enjoyed choosing our own stories to read at home.
Week Ending Friday 19th September 2025
This week we have been learning all about ourselves and our families. We really enjoyed showing our family photos to our friends and talked about our family members.
We learned all about the different parts of our bodies by singing the action song, "Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." We also learned how to change the volume of our voices by whispering the song and then singing it as loudly as we could. We also put on our "Listening Ears" to walk around our school. We heard lots of lovely things. We even took a little visit to the office, where we heard the phones ringing and the doors buzzing.
Week Ending Friday 12th September 2025
This week, we have enjoyed having our new nursery children in for their first full week. They have been amazing at settling into new routines and building relationships with friends and adults.
We have been practising our small group time routines, listening to stories, having snack and joining in with music and movement group activities.
Everyone has been exploring all of our areas in nursery. We have seen some lovely role play between children in the home corner and imaginative play with the building materials.
Week Ending 12th September 2025 - Purple Poppies
Our Purple Poppies have loved listening to Dear Zoo and lots of animal play this week.
We have also welcomed some new faces into our two year old provision and we can't wait to see them all again next week!
Week Ending Friday 5th September 2025
This week we have welcomed back our older nursery children, ready and refreshed for their full nursery year!
It was so lovely to see them playing happily together after the six-week holiday. I think a lot of the children have missed each other!
We have also loved having lots of children making their first short, induction visits; ready for longer sessions next week.
We cant wait for another full fun packed nursery year!
