Emmaville Primary School

Scotland Year 1

Welcome to the Scotland Year 1 Class Page.  Here, you can find out about everything that we've been doing this term.
Friday 11th July

This week we have had our Big Green Week where we have been finding out how to reuse and recycle and also more about the world we live in.
One of our focuses has been our local area so we used our map skills to help guide us round the school site and we also used our senses to identify what we could see and hear as we went.
On Thursday we used our map reading skills to help guide to and round the local park and we thought about the great things that are there already and also what we would add!
The children came up with some great ideas including, a pool, a skatepark and a treehouse.
Well done on another great week!
Happy weekend :)
Friday 27th June

Star of the week goes to the whole class this week! They were fantastic on our trip Belsay - it was a real pleasure to see them enjoy exploring the gardens and spotting some of the exotic plants around the gardens. They also did an amazing job of making sure I didn't get lost - we checked the map at every stop and they kept me right with their amazing map reading  skills - well done everyone!

Happy weekend!
Friday 16th May

The children have had a wonderful week this week - they have shone during English lessons writing a whole story inspired by the Magic Porridge Pot and have made beautifully colourful printing patterns based on The North Wind and the Sun fable.

Speaking of colour - we have loved taking part in the the Rainbow Run today. They all looked fantastic and were so enthusiastic about the run and then supporting our lovely friends in Year 2! A special thank you to our supporters from Nursery who showed us how to do it! And a big thank you to all the organisers and helpers! Well done everyone!

Happy Rainbow Friday!
:)
Friday 9th May

We have had a very busy week this week and the children have all been amazing. A stand out day was our V.E Day celebrations. The children looked fantastic in their red, white and blue colours and they were really keen to learn more about V.E Day. I was really proud of them :)

Happy weekend!

Week beginning 28th April

Year 1 have had a great first week back, and have been making the most of the lovely warm weather. The children have enjoyed outdoor Athletics lessons on the field in PE, and also having a rest between learning in the sunshine. On Wednesday, both classes were thrilled to have an outdoor story time with Mr Saddington, sharing 'Jack and the Beanstalk' as they sat in the shade.

Well done Year 1 for an amazing week!
