North America Year 6

Welcome to the North America Year 6 Class Page.  Here, you can find out about everything that we've been doing this term.
Friday 23rd May

On Thursday 22nd May, Mr Harrison and I had the privilege of taking three teams of Year 6 children to Ryton Cricket Club to take part in a cricket tournament. There were a total of 13 teams taking part, and many great displays of batting, bowling and fielding were showcased throughout the day. As well as this, our children displayed brilliant sportsmanship and teamwork, and a wonderful spirit where the successes of all teams were celebrated. All of our teams did themselves and us proud, but an extra special mention has to be made to Team A who were undefeated on the day, and ran more than 450 runs throughout their 5 games! All children came away with well-earned certificates, and Team A proudly sported gold medals as they successfully progressed through the semi-finals, and then came out victorious in the final. They would have progressed to the Gateshead finals, but unfortunately, the date clashes with our residential visit to London. We wish all the other teams good luck and great success on this day!

Friday 9th May

This week's update is dedicated to the work ethic, determination and positive mindset of all of Year 6 children. They approach everything they do to their best of their ability, whether this is being a top class buddy, creating works of art with watercolour paint or of course preparing for their end of Key Stage 2 SATS. We have spent time this week making little felt good luck mascots to keep in our pockets, and painting quotes of positivity for each other. We know that you will do us proud as ever next week Year 6, but for now, enjoy the sunshine and have a lovely weekend relaxing.
Friday 2nd May

What a great week back after what sounds like a glorious Easter break for everyone, and indeed a well deserved rest after working so hard in school. We had two great visits in school to enjoy; on Wednesday, we had our termly visit from the Gateshead music team to deliver the music workshop. As ever, there was lots of audience and participation, and some great sing a long performances.

Then, on Thursday, we were privileged to have a visit from Gateshead's mayor, Kathleen McCartney and members of her team. They told us lots of interesting information including what the role involves, and facts about the traditional dress, including the long pockets and the mace. It was really informative, and we are thankful to them for giving up their time.
