Friday 11th September
 

Another brilliant week in Year 6!

We have been really excited to get started on our new DT project this week and have begun preparing for our sock monkeys. There are already lots of ideas flying around, and we can’t wait to see how they begin to take shape over the next few weeks!

In Science, we had great fun investigating how we can prove that light travels in a straight line. There was some excellent teamwork on show, with everyone cooperating, sharing ideas and working together really well.

We have also made a start on tag rugby in PE. The children have really enjoyed getting stuck in, learning some new skills and playing together as a team. We are already looking forward to putting these skills into practice at an upcoming tag rugby festival!

Overall, it has been a fantastic second week. Year 6 have continued to impress us with their calm attitude, great behaviour and readiness to learn. A super start to the year — keep it up, Year 6!

Friday 4th September
 

What a fantastic first week back! It has been lovely to see everyone settling into Year 6 life so quickly and getting back into the swing of school routines. There has been lots of catching up with friends, sharing stories from the summer and, of course, getting used to being the oldest children in the school!

We have also been busy completing some work around our class name, North America. The children have produced some fantastic work, including some brilliant artwork inspired by the American artist Georgia O’Keeffe. It has been wonderful to see their creativity and enthusiasm shine through.

One of the highlights of the week was undoubtedly our highly competitive ‘Pirate Game’! The children had to put their maths skills to the test, making careful calculations and decisions, while also using a little bit of friendly deceit and clever strategy to try to win as much money as possible. There was plenty of excitement, laughter and some very competitive pirates!

We have been incredibly impressed with how well the children have settled into Year 6. They have shown maturity, enthusiasm and a fantastic attitude to learning right from the start. It has been a brilliant first week, and we are already looking forward to all the adventures, challenges and successes that the rest of the year will bring!
