Friday 2nd October
On Thursday this week, we celebrated National Poetry Day. In English, we have worked all week on some poems of our own, all around the theme of ‘Wonder’. We wrote a shared acrostic poem all around the theme of Harvest to perform in today’s assembly. Here is our poem:
Harvest time is here again!
A puddle to splash in, because of the rain.
Ripe and ready to take,
Very yummy pumpkin soup to make!
Everybody shares lots of food,
Scrumptious treats to get in the mood.
Thank you for the Harvest!
We also wrote a riddle – can you guess what this poem is all about?
I have a new neighbour!
He knocked on my door this morning.
A spiky tail, and bright red scales…
A poisonous wart on his nose!
A fierce roar, with a fire to match.
My knees were trembling, what did he want?
‘Nice to meet you, have you any sugar?’
Maybe my new neighbour isn’t too bad!

Friday 25th September
We have had such a lovely week – the children have made us so proud! On Tuesday, some of the children stood up to present a speech to their classmates about why they would make a good School Councillor. I was so impressed with the speeches – and I know that the children will be over the moon when we announce it next week!
Today was our Rainbow Run, which was in memory of a very special boy – Ozzy. Ozzy was a much-loved member of our school community, and we all miss him dearly. We got dressed in our finest rainbow outfits – I am sure you will agree that the children all look amazing - and ran 2 laps of the school perimeter. The children were fantastic all day!
A special shoutout has to go to Theo - Ozzy’s older brother. Theo has been keeping us updated with the fundraising total, and told us how much Ozzy would have LOVED today! We are so proud of you, Theo.

Friday 18th September
The children of Southern Europe class have worked their absolute socks off this week! I am so impressed with their beautiful neat handwriting – they have all showed me just how fabulous they are.
I want to share with you all the work that we have completed in PSHE this week. We have been looking at our class charter – and had a great discussion about what rules we can put in place to make sure everyone is safe and happy at school. We have settled on a list of 9 that we are all going to sign and agree to. It was amazing to hear their ideas! I love how much the children wanted something about Growth Mindset to be included – they are always encouraging one another to use this in class!

Friday 11th September
Another wonderful week! This week we have gotten stuck into some of our learning and the children have shown me just how fabulous they are! We have been looking at adding multiple addends in maths – which Southern Europe Class were utterly brilliant at.
One amazing thing I want to celebrate is our PE work this week. Our children took part in the cross-country trials on Wednesday afternoon with Mrs Hamilton and Miss Rochester, and I could hear the cheers of encouragement from where I was working at the other side of school! In our other PE lesson, we worked on co-operation and teamwork. The children were challenged to organise themselves into different orders, which they aced – so we made it trickier. The children then had to organise themselves… without speaking! We learned our own ways to communicate quickly without making a sound. It was amazing to see them all celebrate with one another when they realised that they had done it!

Friday 4th September
Oh wow – I am so impressed with Southern Europe class this week! The children have been absolutely incredible in their first week in year 3. They have worked their socks off in so many different lessons and have made me so proud.
I want to celebrate how hard the children worked in our art lesson today. We have been studying a Southern European artist called Amedeo Modigliani. He created such interesting artwork, and it was fantastic to hear the children pointing out the features that make his work so unique. We noticed the long facial features, the almost blank eyes and the muted colours. I am so impressed with the children’s noticing skills!
Keep it up Southern Europe – you are all superstars and I am so proud of you!
